Cathy Schmitz

Mytopia

I like to meditate with my glasses on and my eyes closed
When clarity comes
I want to be able to see it

I cannot read in my dreams
I sleep with corrective lenses
Afraid I am missing the message

I want to back into my life
Like a tractor trailer
Backing into the garage of a small parking lot
Looking sideways to go backwards
Objects closer than they appear
Perfect on the first try

No glasses required

Pat

I swore I smelled you
Putting on your old earrings
As if silver was porous
And held your lack of perfumes

Monkey

In our house when I say you stink
I mean it in a good way
When I say not now I smell
You say just like a monkey
With your nose
