Features:
Allison Argueta - Ally is in 10th grade from Saugerties,
New York. Her buoyant mind finds solace in writing, reading, photography,
art, and playing guitar. Ally is inspired by the people around her, her experiences,
and feelings. She writes because forgetting is a fear of hers, and she wants
to remember everything- people, experiences, feelings, and the complexity
of every minuscule whirlpool of wonders.
Angel
Angel
Bound to a storm of
Immense longing & waiting.
Dizzying solitary.
Veins black like night,
Only the moon is not there.
Her anatomy a machine
Without oil.

Big Loves Coming
He told me once in a corridor
That I was a nihilist
Nothing has meaning everything is insignificant
As I once felt
The problem was
I enjoyed the color yellow
And the sunrise
And that gave me purpose
I lived for summer and loved deeply
And that gave me meaning
I wondered if those hallways could talk and what they’d say
I pondered if he truly believed nothing comes and nothing goes
What’s next
I’d ask
And cry
Cry for the mountains that never got their imagination back
And the birds whose vocal cords were snipped
For the crayons, whose paper dresses were torn
Everything had meaning to me
I loved ladybugs like they were a sister to my soul
And the rain
Like it was my evening shower
He was never content with my marvelousness
He never loved that I shot sparks from my heart and cared about every detail
that ran across my scarred hands
So when he told me
That I was a nihilist
I smiled and said
Big loves coming
